This is Steve Schwarzman’s story. Forbes Magazine listed him as the fifty-third most wealthy person in America just last year, all the same it isn’t money that makes this tale so fascinating but his astounding accomplishments in the finance world and his generosity to education and the liberal arts. All this goes to show that the keys to thriving in business are devoted working hard and persistence.

In 1985 Stephen A. Schwarzman and his business partner set up their business offering up financial advice to the American public. At this moment the Blackstone Group is known worldwide with ventures as qualified as e.g. The Weather Channel and Legoland, to name but two. After calling Philadelphia home for much of his young life, Stephen A. Schwarzman went to school in the Abington School District. When he finished high school Steve chose undergraduate study at Yale University. Harvard Business School was the very next stop on his fast track to success, here he graduated in 1972. Then he began his career in earnest with Lehman Brothers investment bank, based in New York City. By his thirty-second birthday he was already on the board. Steve doesn’t merely offer his time to a broad range of not for profit organizations, but he has also served as a non-faculty professor at Yale. To further illustrate his wide spectrum of activities, he is the 5th Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in New York, New York. And, to return even more to society, Steve recently contributed to the New York Public Library a hundred million dollars to fund their recent construction project. They also called one of their recently renovated buildings after him. Stephen A. Schwarzman is a role model to successful Americans: last year he was described as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on earth in acknowledgement of his many achievements. His swift rise in the business and financial sectors is surely spectacular, and no doubt his generosity has provided America with a one-of-a-kind new benchmark to compete with. As far as the financial world goes, Steve Schwarzman has it all. All in all, Steve has had a positive influence on both the financial space and to the world as a whole.
