What a phenomenal summer it has been. The other week we went on a mtn bike ride through the Sequoias. It was an impressive trip, but began with the grueling drive. My gear was packed with my bike ready the night before. I started the mountain bike ride up alone as I left early from the office. I was on a race against time as I was supposed to meet my buddies at the top of the mountain road, marked by a picnic table, at eight pm. I had to make the timing just right otherwise I would not meet them. After that time, they were to expect that I got held up and would try again at the same spot at 10am the next day. This means if I was too late, I would end up sleeping in my car alone that night.

Turns out I made it through traffic and up the hill in time to unhook my bike, crack open a beer and bike ride up and down a couple of little hills before dark and before my buddies would arrive. The fresh air was brilliant and it was nice to be away the city. The bike was in perfect shape and ready to hit some trails.

Our mtn bike ride started early and we were ready with big packs stuffed with plenty of food and water. The first crank up the big hill was ridiculously long. We pedaled over 10 miles uphill, that took over 2hrs. Making it to the summit was sensational. We took a break and sipped some water from our stainless steel water bottles.

The rest of the day was spent busting tricks, hitting logs and enticing each other to go big. We half a few good breaks in between stopping to eat lunch and have a smoke at the three sisters, what an glorious spot. The terrain was magnificent and just right for some summertime riding. It was nice to see just a bit of snow left on the ground in certain spots.

Types of Kona Mountain bikes

The Kona Bicycle is one of the best these days and we all know you are searching for one. Course you could pay the full price but why should you? They’ve got plenty of places for you to find one for much cheaper than a store price.

Kona actually has three types of bikes, one for man, woman and child. This is perfect for the outdoor family or even those that want to get a gift for someone. Honestly I like the Africa Bike the best, with it’s soft seat and cushiony handle bars you can fly through the desert hitting the bumps and rocks at top speed. Or if you need to ride it around town you can and toss your books in the front of the wire mesh basket or a back pack on the back of it.

However for the true mountain biker you’ll probably be searching for Kona Mountain Bikes, they’ve got several variety. There’s the red and white with the word Kona in black going down the sidebar or the Kona Mountain bike deluxe which is in blue and white.

These bikes can range anywhere from $450-$1800 depending on where you get it and what you have on it. However you can find them cheaper online, you just have to look.
