Vodafone Provides Economical Roaming Rates on Mobile Broadband
In what it believes to be the cheapest mobile broadband data charge for using internet abroad, Vodafone has released the Vodafone Passport service for its 3 million customers.
For using up to 25MB of data, only £4.99 is charged for a day, which means 20 pence per MB. In addition, a smaller plan of 1MB is introduced for customers who have limited usage under 1MB, charged on their usage per KB, which amounts to 50p per 100KB. For extensive internet access, Vodafone offers 50MB for a price of £9.99 in Europe or £29.99 anywhere outside
Vodafone has come up with these plans keeping in mind the kind of web related work its customers might want to do. Like, with a 25MB data usage allowance, one can read and reply to almost 25 mails, surf 250 pages, watch three YouTube videos of 90 seconds each, use Google Maps, read eight BBC news reports and also check Facebook status.
Data usage outside of Europe can still be very costly, but Vodafone Passport aims at providing its customers the best available package. Customers can use the internet on their mobile phone or on their mobile broadband laptop and choose a plan that fits their need the most. Although 3 has made claims of being one of the cheapest mobile broadband providers, Vodafone has clearly beaten it in this respect.
However, in all this excitement over Vodafone Passport, customers must not forget that the charges apply keeping UK time as reference. For a user who has used a certain amount of data in a day, he will have to pay roaming rates of that from one midnight to the next,
