What Is Shortsightedness?

Myopia refers to a condition in which objects that are viewed from a distances are not seen in sharp focus. When you are near sighted, you can’t see objects placed at some distance from you with any great clarity.

A nearsighted man sees near objects clearly, while targets in the distance are smudged. And so, someone with shortsightedness tends to squint when viewing far away targets. This characteristic is the foundation of the word “myopia,” which comes from two Greek words: myein, meaning shut, and ops, meaning eye.

Jaeger charts are used to assess a individual’s near vision. A Snellen chart will be better for assessing somebody’s out-of-the-way vision. A nearsighted person will not be able to see the image from a Snellen chart with great clarity and so the letters looked fuzzy and unfocussed.

It occurs when the physical length of the eye is greater than the optical length. For this reason, Shortsightedness often develops in the rapidly growing school-aged child or teenager, and progresses during the growth years, requiring frequent alterations in glasses or contact lenses. It usually stops progressing as growth is completed in the early twenties.

Generally, people with Myopia will have a family history of the disease and are likely to develop the condition. If the condition develops, then the most likely outcome will be a healthy normal eye in the mid tweties. Sometimes, there are a few patients who suffer from a retinal detachment.

If you are myopic, then you are likely to need to the local opticians and see whether I could get Rimless glasses online. Just go to an actual optician for the prescription and request a copy of the prescriptions.
